Modelling Tips
My Top 10 Tips for Beginners:
1. Use Acrylic paints. Find out why here.
2. Before you do anything, as soon as you open the kit, wash the all the plastic parts of the kit thoroughly in warm, soapy (washing up liquid) water to remove any grease, natural oils and dust. This will mean that if you follow my number one tip and use Acrylics then the paint will adhere much better.
3. Paint small parts whilst they're still on the sprue. This is because it is easier to hold the parts and you don't need blue-tac or something similar to hold it. If you use blue-tac you can't paint the whole part all in one go which means that it takes longer and you may not get an even coat of paint.
4. Take your time when building a model. Rushing is the best way to screw up a kit, and eventually you'll look back on it later on and regret taking the short-cuts and making the mistakes you did when you rushed it. Another thing to remember is that you learn from your mistake. If you screw up a kit, you should remember what you did wrong so that next time it won't happen again... I've learnt that that's the only way to improve in the art of modelling.
